Adding Inventory to a Container

Note: In order to add inventory via the Add Item to Inventory form, the role of the logged-in user must include access to the Add Item to Inventory feature.

Though inventory is usually added to the application as part of a physical count, in some instances you may want to add inventory from the Manage Items page. If your system uses containers, you are able to add inventory to a container from the Manage Items page. Inventory is added one item at a time to the container at the Add Item to Location form.

  1. Select Manage > Items from the navigation pane.
  2. The Manage Items page appears. The Items are listed in the page's grid.

  2. To add this item as inventory to a container, click the Add icon.Add icon

  3. This item number is automatically placed in the Item Number field.
  4. Your default site is automatically entered in the Site field.
    1. If you have access to another site or sites, and you want to add this item to a location in another site, click the drop-down arrow in the Site field and select the site from the list that appears.
  5. Unit of Measure:
    1. If the division uses multiple units of measure, you must select a unit of measure for this item. To view this item's units of measure and select one for it, click the drop-down arrow in the Unit of Measure field and select one from the list that appears.
    2. If the division does not use multiple units of measure, the system default unit of measure is automatically placed in the Unit of Measure field.
  6. To add this item to a container, filter the location drop-down list so that it includes containers. Click the Filter icon to view the Location drop-down list filter. Make sure that All or Containers Only is selected.

  1. After you select the filter, the filter options close and a spinning indicator appears to indicate that the location list filter is being selected.
  2. Next, click the drop-down arrow in the Location field.

  1. Select the container to which you want to add the item.

  1. Serial Number field:
    1. If this item uses serial numbers, the Serial Number field will be activated and you must enter the serial number in the Serial Number field.
    2. If this item does not use serial numbers, the Serial Number field will not be activated.
  2. Enter an inventory count for this item in the Quantity field.

  1. If this is a serialized item, the system will automatically place a quantity of 1 in the Quantity field.
  1. Lot field:
    1. If this item uses lots, the Lot field is activated and a lot must be entered for this item in the Lot field.
    2. If this item does not use lots, the Lot field is not activated.
  2. Expiration Date field:
    1. If this item uses expiration dates, an expiration date must be entered for this item in the Expiration Date field. When you place the computer's mouse cursor in this field, a calendar appears; select the date from the calendar to enter the date in the Expiration Date field and close the calendar.
    2. If this item does not use expiration dates, the Expiration Date field will not be activated.
  3. Today's date is automatically placed in the Inventory Date field. If the inventory is being taken on another day, click inside this field and a calendar appears. Select the date from this calendar.
  4. To add this item-location-quantity to inventory, click the Save icon in the bottom right of the form.Save icon
    1. The form closes and you are returned to the Manage Items page; the item has been added to inventory.
    2. (To cancel adding this item-location-quantity to inventory, click the Cancel icon found in the bottom right portion of the form.)Cancel icon
